Formed in 1967 in Massachusetts, the J. Geils Band has had a long career as an American rock band. With music that had a distinctly R&B blues rock sound in the 1970's, J. Geils turned to a more pop-influenced sound in the 1980's

and had great success with their 1982 hit Centerfold. The group folded in 1983 over artistic differences, staged a brief comeback in 1999 without much success, and most recently had a surprise reunion in 2006.
